I became familiar with Brian’s work a few months ago. He just released a set of mashup illustrations for Calvin and Hobbes within a star wars theme. Although I’m not a big fan of star wars, I am the greatest fan that ever lived for Calvin and Hobbes. I fell in love with his work instantly. I had to dig up some more of his work and own a part of his it for my own. I bought a T-shirt. The search led me to some more of Brian’s work. That’s when I found his fixation with octopus illustrations. Especially the one he calls Otto.
A pet is man’s best friend, and one of the cutest combination I saw for a person and his pet, is the duo, Otto and Victoria. The two of them get to a series of funny scenarios, due to their unconventional coupling.
Having a companion pet like Otto can lead you to some special situations. The ones you don’t come across every day. Brain uses this weird duo cleverly in that way. He creates his personal versions of some famous movies and stories posters.
Creating Otto and Victoria, in their steam punk Victorian style world, is what Brian does to show off his illustration talent. And what a great talent it is. During the day he works as a story artist at the Walt Disney animation studios.
Check out a sample of his octopus illustrations below. If you like it, like I do, head over to his Etsy page, to see more of it. Say hi to Otto and Victoria for me.
