DC Super Heroes Pop Up Book by Matthew Reinhart

DC Super Heroes Pop Up Book by Matthew Reinhart

I have a small, yet impressive, collection of great pop up books. I got “Doctor Seues Pops Up”, “Alice in pop-up wonderland”, “One red dot” and a few more notable ones. All of them are great books and I cherish them dearly, keeping them far away from my daughter’s hands. So I have no clue how did this title got away from me, staying hidden for 5 whole years. “DC Super Heroes: The Ultimate Pop-Up Book” is AMAZING! Matthew Reinhart, the paper engineer did a great job on this one, my jaw just dropped to the ground while I was watching the video below. This is probably the best Super Heroes Pop Up Book EVER.

I will try and break down what goes on on the 6 spreads of the book, having over 25 pop-ups in it. Needless to say, the book was ordered immediately, and I hope to get it soon, real soon!

Super Heroes Pop Up Book

1st Spread

The first spread features the man of steel, Superman, in the background of Metropolis. On the left side, we have baby Superman in the spacecraft that saved him from exploding krypton, and carried him to his new home, Earth. On the 1st right side scene we see Lex Luthor, Superman’s greatest nemesis. In the second right scene we see Superman being hit by another enemy, Doomsday.

2nd Spread

The second spread features Batman, the terror of all the criminals in Gotham City. The real wonder of this spread is the bat signal that lights up on the tower (there is a battery compartment within the book for it). On the left side, we can see the bat cave, Batman’s headquarter. In the second left scene the batmobile is shown. On the 1st right side scene we have Joker, Batman’s Ultimate enemy, grinning as always. In the second scene we see two of Batman’s allies, Robin and Batgirl.

3rd Spread

This spread is my favorite. It features Wonder Woman with her mighty lasso of truth. Totally kicking ass. On the upper left side, we can see Wonder Woman’s sanctuary, “The Island”. On the lower left side Wonder Woman is flying away in her invisible spacecraft. On the right side we have a battle scene between Wonder Woman and Ares.

4th Spread

The fourth spread features all five of the Green Lanterns. On the left side, we have the Flash speeds away like a lightning. On the 1st right side scene we have Aquaman. I couldn’t recognize the characters on the 2nd scene, sorry, I will update it once I will get the book.

5th Spread

The fifth spread is dedicated entirely to Villains and evil DC superheroes. The main character on the page is Lord Darkseid, accompanied by eight of his evil minions. On the 1st left side scene we have the collection of 5 of Gotham City ‘finest’: Penguin, Cat woman, Two face, Riddler and the mighty Bane. The 2nd left side scene shows the evil techno villains. On the right side scenes we can see Sinestro.

6th Spread

This is by far the most impressive, mind blowing scene of the book. It features 45 characters in an epic formation. All of the Justice League of America heroes. The characters on this page are (according to a reviewer on amazon, i didn’t know all of their names): Adam Strange, Amzao, Aquaman, Atom-Smasher, Batman, Batwoman, Bizarro, Black Adam, Black Canary, Black Lightning, Black Manta, Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Captain Marvel, Cheetah, Chemo, Clayface, Deadman, Firestorm, The Flash, Giganta, Gorilla Grodd, Green Arrow, TGreen Lantern, Harley Quinn, The Joker, Krypto, Lex Luthor, Man-Bat, Martian Manhunter, Metallo, Metamorpho, Mister Freeze, Mongul, Nightwing, Plastic Man, Red Tornado, Scarecrow, Silver Banshee, Sinestro, Solomon Grundy, Supergirl, Superman, Wonder woman and Zoom.
