I’ve been following the work of french illustrator Mathieu Leyssenne for years now. His style is one of my favorites, and I’m sure to write a post one day showcasing his amazing work. This post, however, is meant to showcase a project he just published together with a group of other talented people. A board game called Heldentaufe, that is raising money on a Kickstarter campaign.
The players in Heldentaufe are traveling between 2 realms, the upper world and the Netherworld. Traveling between the realms is possible through portals that are spread across the board. The players will encounter magical creatures and collect treasures to trade, in order to win the game.
There is a playable version of the game online, if you wish to try it out. I personally found it a bit too packed with explanations, and didn’t have the patience to finish reading all the instructions. I am going to contribute to the campaign solely for one reason – I would love to own any kind of art work that Mathieu Leyssenne is part of!
Check out the Heldentaufe campaign website the group had uploaded and fund them. i want this game to see the light of day. You can also check some of the art work below.
